The Danish National Centre for Foreign Languages (NCFF) was established as part of a national strategy formulated by the Danish government to strengthen the position of foreign languages in the Danish educational system.
The overall aims of the centre are:
NCFF initiates and funds projects that help meet the two overall aims of the centre. All Danish educational institutions can apply for project funding.
NCFF organizes at least one annual conference as well as seminars, workshops, inspirational events and feature days. The centre also administers the bilateral ministerial upper secondary school exchange programmes.
The Danish contact point for the ECML (European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe) is part of NCFF.
One of NCFF's tasks is to create an overview of foreign language projects in and outside Denmark, so please let us know if you know of interesting language-promoting activities or projects.

NCFF is located two places and thus has two regional units: NCFF (East) at the University of Copenhagen and NCFF (West) at Aarhus University. The centre has two directors Mette Skovgaard Andersen (East) and Hanne Wacher Kjærgaard (West). NCFF has a DKK 100 million five-year joint appropriation from two Danish ministries: the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Ministry of Children and Education.
